How to write a good story
This page is all about "How to write a good story". If you need some tips and tricks to spice up your stories, then you're at the right place!
Step 1: Orientation
The orientation sets the scene, mood and introduces the characters. Try to include 'When', 'Where', 'Who' and 'What' in this section to explain to the reader what the story is going to be about.
Step 2: Action Rising
Action rising is how the events in a story build excitement until they reach their most exciting point (called the "climax"). After the action rising and climax, the story starts slowing down and wrapping up (called "action falling"), bringing the story to an end.
(Tip)
A tip of mine is not to introduce the problem immediately in the action rising. Many people make this mistake.
Step 3: Climax
The climax is the turning point of a story when the main character's problem begins to be solved or resolved. We can also think of the climax as the most important and exciting moment in an entire story, or we can think of it as the most intense and emotional part of a narrative.
Step 4: Action Falling
Falling action in a story is the part of the plot that comes after the story's climax. This is when the tension and conflict start to resolve, and the story starts to wind down to its conclusion.
Step 5: Resolution
The resolution is the end of the story. It occurs after the climax. It is when you learn what happens to the characters after the conflict is resolved. It is basically the "happily ever after".
Done!
After you've completed all the steps above, you want to edit and proofread it. You read at least twice and then have someone else read it. After all, 2 pairs of eyes are better than 1!
